Where do you purchase most of your alcohol? I've been trying to find Red Breast twelve everywhere but to no avail.
The last particular bottle was purchased at Tower Liquor off Broadway in Sacramento, CA. A run-of-the-mill liquor store in the area. Took them about 10 minuets to figure out a price for it… we got a deal. When I was in Portland I would generally use 11th Ave Liquor off Hawthorne. They always had a great selection, including Redbreast 12. But it is a hot product, and I’ve heard similar stories of it being a difficult thing to find in some regions. Good luck!
With no success in finding Old Pulteney, I'm considering buying some Glenmorangie as it is still relatively cheap and I've heard good things about the standard bottling. Seeing as it is available and considered a 'good' single malt, do you have any thoughts regarding it?
Bummer about the Pulteney. Either way that would be a great second option. There’s an old bottle of Glenmorangie currently in my fathers whiskey cabinet. Both highlands, and both known for great quality at younger ages. And being the most popular single malt in Scotland, unlike Old Pulteney, it is generally available everywhere. I still think Pulteney is a bit better (possibly due to the non-celebrity status), but you will definitely not be disappointed with the latter. All around Pulteney has a more tropical/salty profile while Glenmorangie has more of a spicy/earthy portrait - so it largely depends on your preference. Good Luck!
